What is a computer graphics major?

Computer graphics curriculum concentrates on the software, hardware, and mathematical tools used to represent, display, and manipulate topological, two-, and three-dimensional objects on a computer screen and prepares individuals to function as computer graphics specialists. Course topics include graphics software and systems, digital multimedia, graphic design, graphics devices, processors, and standards, attributes and transformations, projections, surface identification and rendering, color theory and application, and applicable geometry and algorithms.

How popular is computer graphics as a major?

Each year, around 1,430 students obtain a bachelor’s degree and around 660 students obtain an associate degree in computer graphics. In 2021, 1,710 students received a bachelor's degree and 638 students received an associate degree. This is 8% more computer graphics majors than there were in 2020. Computer graphics is a relatively popular major compared to other computer science majors.
