How popular is Chinese language and literature as a major?
Each year, around 620 students obtain a bachelor’s degree and around 35 students obtain an associate degree in Chinese language and literature. In 2021, 556 students received a bachelor's degree and 39 students received an associate degree. This is relatively the same number of Chinese language and literature majors as there were in 2020. Chinese language and literature is a relatively popular major compared to other foreign languages majors.

Share your experienceChinese is a great second language to study! Class sizes are typically smaller, so you can receive a lot of individual attention. While it's intimidating to try speaking a new language, my experience with native speakers has always been positive. Studying Chinese has helped me become more worldly. I recommend frequently reviewing vocabulary, watching Chinese shows or movies, and take up opportunities to practice with native speakers!
Learning a new language may be a challenge at first but it'll be definitely worth it. The professors make it a fun environment for you to learn.
Study as ahead of deadlines as you can, especially for the language classes. Once you get behind it can be very difficult to catch up.
