Students of bilingual and multicultural education focus on the design and provision of teaching and other educational services to bilingual/bicultural children or adults, and/or the design and implementation of educational programs having the goal of producing bilingual/bicultural individuals. This includes preparation to serve as teachers and administrators in bilingual/bicultural education programs.

Each year, around 140 students obtain a bachelor’s degree and fewer than 5 students obtain an associate degree in bilingual and multicultural education. In 2021, 123 students received a bachelor's degree and fewer than 5 students received an associate degree. This is 10% fewer bilingual and multicultural education majors than there were in 2020. Bilingual and multicultural education is a relatively uncommon major within education.
