Programs in the arts focus on the creation and interpretation of works and performances that use auditory, kinesthetic, and visual phenomena to express ideas and emotions in various forms, subject to aesthetic criteria. Subcategories include visual arts, digital arts, art history, studio arts, and the performance arts, as well as various subsets of each of the formerly mentioned.

How popular is arts as a major?

Each year, around 11,100 students obtain a bachelor’s degree and around 2,660 students obtain an associate degree in arts. In 2021, 10,168 students received a bachelor's degree and 3,071 students received an associate degree. This is 5% fewer arts majors than there were in 2020. Arts is one of the most popular majors within art.
