Agricultural engineering students learn to put into operation mathematical and scientific principles to the design, development and operational evaluation of systems, equipment and facilities for production, processing, storage, handling, distribution and use of food, feed, and fiber. This includes applications to aquaculture, forestry, human and natural resources.

How popular is agricultural engineering as a major?

Each year, around 1,140 students obtain a bachelor’s degree and around 10 students obtain an associate degree in agricultural engineering. In 2021, 1,132 students received a bachelor's degree and 8 students received an associate degree. This is 4% fewer agricultural engineering majors than there were in 2020. Agricultural engineering is a relatively popular major compared to other engineering majors.
