Sophomore: Pomona is the best place if you're into a small college environment, down-to-earth really intellectual people, and are open to learn new subjects! I have grown so much in my semesters here, and I feel set up to succeed in the future. The college has free food and events everywhere, and there's always something to do alongside your classes (and, if not, you can always lay out in the beautiful sun). Would highly recommend going on On-The-Loose trips, where you can go on backpacking trips, overnight beach trips, etc. Pomona has been the perfect fit, and I couldn't ask for a better college experience. Sophomore: I have really enjoyed my experience with Andrew’s university thus far. As a minority student myself, I love the fact that Andrew’s boasts of a rich diversity and this has given me the great opportunity of learning from other people with different cultural backgrounds than my own. Alum: I chose to attend Swarthmore College because they had the best financial aid package which made higher education for a first-gen, low-income student like myself possible. Besides the financial aid, I really enjoyed the small campus community where I developed relationships with my closest friends today as well as met my partner in life. It was at Swarthmore where I realized my dream of becoming a teacher practitioner and scholar which is what I am pursuing post-grad. I am indebted to my professors who were dedicated to scholarship that was aimed at improving educational and livelihood outcomes both on and outside of Swarthmore's campus. I would highly recommend taking classes in the sociology/ anthropology and educational studies department. My fellow student are good people and everyone in have met has some kind of truly unique capability. I have learned that being in the top 99% of GPA and test scores is great, but I routinely meet people in the top 99.5% and they seem many times smarter than me. Being around people like this keep me humble and motived. I like party scene, as I can alway find something fun to do whenever time allows. I also like that most of my colleagues are not trying to 'look' smart...and anyone who would try this would soon find that someone right next to them is many time more capable. Junior: The most significant part of my time at Amherst is the people. They make what might seem monotonous, day-to-day life in Western MA an extremely fun and unique experience. Some aspects of Amherst such as the dining or housing leaves things to be desired. I know the new student center and dining hall is set to open in a couple years, but that has certainly been a big negative as someone with dietary restrictions. Also, housing, especially for sophomores, is particularly bad although it has gotten better as the wave of students who took a gap semester/year due to covid have graduated. Besides this, the quality of academic and social life is unmatched. I can go on and on for days about Amherst, but in summary it truly is a special place and I have loved my time here.... Football games and student life was awesome. Advising was super good, especially as a student looking to go to grad school. The only things I wasn't crazy about were the low diversity, and the unsafe area. Senior: Oral Roberts University (ORU) is a liberal arts university that promotes diversity, student development, and excellent academic opportunities. ORU brings liveliness to Tulsa with its sports culture and prayer environment. One of the most outstanding aspects of ORU is the student culture and association. Several clubs and events conducted by the student body presidents encourage companionship and involvement. With academics, ORU provides classroom practicality and engagement. Over the past two years, several new academic buildings have been erected and facilitated. Several of these include the new ORU Welcome Center, the Biological Sciences Center, the J.D. McKean Library, and the Peggy V. Helmerich Media Arts Center, which will be opened officially this fall. One thing that might need some change with will be the attention paid to some majors. Sophomore: Princeton University is certainly an academically rigorous college. It attracts students who hold themselves to high standards which, due to grade deflation, adds to the stress of most students. The campus is beautiful in the more historic part of campus. The newer buildings are very clean and there are several food options. I don’t ever feel the need to snack with the amount of options I have in the undergraduate meal plan. Many of the student organizations are wonderful and everyone is very passionate about their field. It is certainly not an athletic school but alumni are extremely passionate about Princeton pride.... Freshman: Starting as a freshman at Carnegie Mellon has been a whirlwind experience. Moving from the bustling, sunny streets of Dubai to the colder, more laid-back vibe of Pittsburgh was a big adjustment. I remember my first snowfall—it was magical but also a stark reminder that I needed better winter gear! Academically, juggling Economics and Statistics with Computer Science is demanding. In my first semester, I pulled my first all-nighter for a CS assignment. It was tough, but the sense of accomplishment was incredible. My professors are supportive, and I've found study groups to be invaluable. Socially, I've connected with international student groups and even joined the Middle Eastern Student Association. We hosted a cultural night that felt like a slice of home, complete with traditional food and music. Sophomore: Academically very challenging. Everyone is pursuing something outside of school, and very focused on their career. Getting into your major, especially computer science or business is really tough and honestly not worth the risk unless you got direct admission to major. They have large varieties of food in dining halls but not much of it is good. The on-campus coffee shops / cafes are much better.
