Junior: My experience as an Ohio State student has been incredibly fulfilling in many ways. I've loved the sense of community here; there's always something happening on campus, whether it's a big football game, a cultural event, or a club meeting. The diversity of academic programs and the quality of professors have allowed me to explore my interests deeply. I've had some amazing research and hands-on learning opportunities that have enriched my education. That being said, there are a few things I wish could be different. Sometimes, the large class sizes can make it challenging to connect with professors on a personal level, especially in introductory courses. It would be great to see more resources allocated to smaller discussion groups or more office hours. Additionally, while the campus is vibrant, there are areas where improvements could be made in accessibility and campus infrastructure. Other: I am a parent of a current student and have another one who will attend in the fall. We could not be happier with our experience at UD! Our child is thriving academically, the classes are challenging him in ways he did not expect, but support is there if needed. The experiential learning opportunities, internships and study abroad programs are exceptional. Our son has enjoyed club and intramural sports, including tennis, volleyball and basketball. Family weekend is wonderful- so much to see and do, and it is an incredibly welcoming community. In fact, if you mention Dayton to just about anyone you will hear the word ‘community’ over and over, because it is true. Housing is unique- first year dorms are pretty typical, second year are either suites or on campus apartments, and third and fourth year students are eligible to live in the famous ‘neighborhood’, houses owned and maintained by the university. Sophomore: I love the amount of extra circular activities available at UC. There is something for everyone, no matter when you find your path. While I feel that it is intimidating to join one of these groups and I have not yet joined one, I plan to soon. One thing I would like to see a change in is housing. Off campus housing is so incredibly expensive and the dorms are not available for every student as they are overcrowded and most are dirty. It is hard to focus on school and activities when students are constantly worried about having to pay for housing or even having housing in general. Junior: I adore everything about Ohio University! I was so excited to get to Athens my freshman year. I immediately fell in love with the campus and felt right at home there. From the very first day, the professors acknowledge that as new students, college will be demanding, but it is not impossible and is worth it. The professors truly care about their students and want to see them succeed, and they will do whatever they can to help. The student body is truly what makes OU so special. Every single individual is kind and will go out of their way to help someone. I have found the greatest group of friends whom I love dearly and will forever be grateful for. Something I would like to see change however, is the food options we have. At the dining halls, food is poured out of plastic bags and served to us, and the campus markets are lined with candy and sodas. Alum: Don’t let the small town fool you. ONU is a great school. Knowledgeable professors, lots of extra curricular activities, and great athletic programs. The small school vibe is amazing, students are generally very nice and you will know so many people on campus before you know it. There is a great camraderie between the athletic teams and most of the teams are very successful and highly competitive in the Ohio Atheltic Conference. All of the colleges have great accredidations and the value of the degree is worth the price. As for the social aspect, there aren’t a ton of bars but it’s not hard to find a good house party. Sophomore: I personally have enjoyed my first year here. I am a biochemistry major with a pre-med co-major, and most of my classes are not that difficult. I have been able to do all of the work I need to succeed, while some of the professors and TA's in the labs are much less helpful than my peers. Alum: My experience at Oberlin College was wonderful overall. Yes there were some bumps in the road socially and academically challenges but I wouldn't choose somewhere else if I could do my undergraduate over again. Key thing was having a community that looked like me and support me socially and culturally. Freshman: I was always nervous to go to college, scared to be away from home, but at Bowling Green University I always felt like I was home! Resident life is like you own little apartment space that you can cater to make you feel like a chunk out of room back home. Your professors, and the campus staff make the experience feel more than just an environment were you learn. Walking into the different restaurants they provide on campus, I never feel let down. The food is amazing! My favorites would have to be the burritos from Carillon Place, or the nice hot burgers from Pub 1910 in the student center. Aside from food there is events, and many other things to keep the student body moving and enjoying themselves. They try their ultimate best to make sure the students attending Bowling Green feel the inclusitivioty. Though you may ask, are some things I would like to see changed around campus? Senior: Attending Baldwin Wallace University was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I was supported by amazing professors, made lifelong friends, and even met the love of my life. I was involved in the Marching Band, volunteer organizations, and FSL, and I had valuable experiences with the Political Science department and Community Research Institute. Berea's proximity to Cleveland was a huge plus - I loved exploring the city, especially the vibrant Playhouse Square district. The campus had a great feel, with a perfect balance of size and accessibility. BW greatly prepared me for graduate school and the class sizes allowed me to become close with my professors. Additionally, BW allows you to truly do it all. While I was very involved, I was able to have a work-study job in the ceramics studio and work with the art gallery. I transferred to Toledo from another smaller university in Ohio and cannot say enough great things about Toledo compared to my previous institution. This university's balance of academic rigor and social opportunities is unmatched. I have always felt safe walking around surrounding areas and on campus. Sophomore: My experience at Mount Union has been good. I will be a Junior in the Fall and I've learned a lot so far, from taking classes for my major to others that I just wanted to try out of interest. I've heard different perspectives and opinions on many different topics. Most importantly, I've learned from my classes for my major, Graphic Design, which will then help me in the future. Things like the different programs/softwares available, group/partner critiques, and different terms to use to describe things in more detail. I also commute from home that is about a 5 minute drive. It's very helpful to be able to do that, to live so close to a college like this. What I would like to see change is definitely prices reduced for tuition and parking permits for commuters....
