It attracts students who hold themselves to high standards which, due to grade deflation, adds to the stress of most students. The campus is beautiful in the more historic part of campus. The newer buildings are very clean and there are several food options. I don’t ever feel the need to snack with the amount of options I have in the undergraduate meal plan. From the general area to student life and the local area, I met life-long friends in the dorm, in class, in the spiritual and Christian campus fellowships, cultural groups, choirs, and even off-campus. The professors and department workers were accessible and easy to get along with. They were knowledgeable, caring and helpful. If I had to go back and choose again, I would definitely choose this same school. Up 'til my final year, I did not have summer school experience, so I chose to take a few summer school courses and stay on campus, just to see what it was like. Getting an A was even easier for me during the summer, and since the student population was smaller, we seemed even closer and got to know more people better. Sophomore: Wesleyan University is an amazing school. The people here are all passionate about something and are incredibly driven towards their goals. You will see people on campus filming short films, dancing in three different groups at the same time, and people tutoring in the writing center, local schools, and more. The professors are all incredibly knowledgeable and understanding, so I have enjoyed all my classes, even those unrelated to my major. Middletown is just a regular suburban town, but compared to the other NESCACs, it's one of the more fun towns/places. Also, in case you are on financial aid, you will get a nice amount of aid (this was my cheapest option!). There is always stuff to do on campus, whether it is a movie night at the film center, dances and concerts, or a party! It's literally just the Goldilocks school. Sophomore: I really love it here and am glad that I decided on Wellesley! I'm class of 2026, so I've been on campus for about two years now and each year, I've been able to meet some of the best professors and even better people. Conversations with peers are just as nuanced as the people and although the campus could still do with some diversity, I think we're definitely on the better end (I say this as a half Black and half-Asian student from a very predominantly white town). I've found that it's really easy to make friends because the campus and class sizes are so small (that being said, I'm also more extroverted). However, even my more introverted friends have said that they were eventually able to find close friends as their first or second year progressed -- the key is to be involved in campus or go to events and intentionally talk to people and reach out.... Sophomore: Coming from a somewhat big city, I wasn't sure what to expect from a small college town like Ithaca. But after a short year at Cornell, I absolutely love it. Although there isn't a whole lot to do, there's enough, and this bonds you with your peers and allows you to fully dive into your academics. Aside from Ithaca, I also think Cornell is the perfect size for a school.
