Sophomore: Coming from a somewhat big city, I wasn't sure what to expect from a small college town like Ithaca. But after a short year at Cornell, I absolutely love it. Junior: The University of Florida is a great school for online students. I am a student in the Fire and Emergency services program and have enjoyed my time here. Although I am an out of state student, the tuition rates for this school are more affordable than an in-state institution where I live in Tennessee. Also, the academics are sufficiently challenging. The professors that I've had have all been very helpful, welcoming calls or emails. There are a few programs noted for their fire science across the nation, such as Oklahoma State University but they are so much more costly. Another great aspect of being an online student at University of Florida is being treated like an on-campus student. You have access to all campus facilities, can purchase Florida Gators football student season tickets, etc. While many "colleges" that cater to fire and emergency services are basically degree mills and lack the reputation that the University of Florida offers. Graduate Student: This was a great school to attend! There were so many traditions to participate in and the people that you met were so friendly. Academics were great too, the professors are easy to work with and they come with so much knowledge to pass on to their students. You cannot miss an opportunity to get involved because there are booths everywhere every single day! Sporting events are very lively and fun as well. Freshman: Athens, Georgia, the home of the University of Georgia, remains a fond memory in my heart. Athens is not too big of a city to get lost in, but not so small that it gets boring. There's always events taking place on campus, and Saturdays in Athens are some nobody should ever miss! The students here are willing to talk to you, and the campus makes it easy to bump into each other often. Amidst all these wonderful attributes that makes UGA so special--not to mention the great weather--I believe the housing situation needs to be updated. They are working on renovating certain dorms over the summer, so perhaps the housing situation may be better for the incoming class of 2024. The university also needs to address the parking situation because thousands of students are without a parking permit on the campus and have to park illegally due to lack of parking spaces. Junior: As a student who is still at the school, I like to think that I still have a first hand account of some of the issues the school is currently facing, and one of the main issues is construction. With the renovations across campus and Poe Hall, many of the more busy walkways are either partially or entirely unavailable, which can prove problematic when attempting to get from place to place in a timely fashion. That said, there are few other complaints I have with the school, if any. Locationally the school is ideal, being some distance from the city of Raleigh, the school is located comfortably in a suburban area, making both greenways and the city itself easily accessible. Sophomore: Upon arrival to UIUC, I immediately felt the sense that I was welcomed and appreciated for being there. The professors are spectacular! My organic chemistry professor contributed to the COVID test, which I thought was remarkable that he contributed to such a significant thing, yet, he was teaching ME! This, nonetheless, is not a unique experience as most of the professors at UIUC have done something remarkable, too. The student life at UIUC is unlike one I have ever imagined. The connections between people of various backgrounds, beliefs, etc are astounding. One thing I think I wish would change is the dorm housing. UIUC has one of the worst freshman dorm housing. For instance, I stayed in Snyder Hall in South Ikenberry Commons, and while it was nice, it was definitely not worth $13,000 (a year) for staying in a shoe box that would sometimes have cockroaches in the bathroom. Sophomore: Overall, I love Auburn. The campus community is very welcoming and friendly, and the campus itself is gorgeous! There are tons of great spots to study, both indoors and out. The area nearby is also very nice, with a lot of cute local coffee shops and restaurants. I've had really good experiences with most of my professors at Auburn, although I have had a few that weren't great. Some have kind of weird grading systems, and it's hard to monitor your own grades through Canvas sometimes because of that. I enjoy most of my classes, and if you're in liberal arts it's really easy to add a minor (or two), so you can explore different academic interests. I lived in the Village my first year, which is super convenient. It's by one of the dining halls and about a five minute walk from the main campus and from the Reacreation and Wellness Center, which made it easy for me to workout before classes. Junior: My experience as an Ohio State student has been incredibly fulfilling in many ways. Freshman: Attending the University of Idaho marked a significant transition for me, pushing me into new experiences and opportunities. Situated in the charming town of Moscow, the university's faculty have to make do with little towns resources. Despite our geographical disposition, the campus remains pretty with a variety of weekly events, offering not only a sense of community but also reasonable prices for entertainment. However, the cost of on-campus meals and first-year housing often proves burdensome for students, straining their budgets. While I am generally satisfied with my campus experience thus far, I particularly want to make changes in the realm of student housing. All of the labs are very interactive and the small class sizes create an even better learning environment where it gives you the opportunity to really learn from your professors and have more one on one conversations with them during class.
