Sophomore: My experience at St. Olaf College has been enjoyable thus far. The community is the school's biggest "it" factor; there is something exceptional about Oles. I felt immediately welcomed on campus and learned quickly that there is a group for every person. The camaraderie between the different sports teams (MIAC and club) is unique and precious. There is a balance on the campus that is unique as well; every Ole is well-rounded, and there isn't an over-emphasis on athletics versus academics versus arts. Every area of study or interest is encouraged and fostered on campus. I would like to see a change in the housing process; housing was quite messy the past semester for all of the current students, and it was a stressful endeavor for everyone. I'd like to see more off-campus housing available for upperclassmen, or more options for those living on campus. Tuition can be quite high but will pay off on a resume or for connections within certain job markets. The University also partners with large organizations such as Disney, The Cheesecake Factory, and more. This campus can increase more diversity in the student population, faculty, and staff. Malibu is a beautiful campus, though, with study areas overlooking the ocean. Other campuses include Calabasas, West LA, and Irvine although students may want to live outside of these areas to save more on housing. Senior: I have loved my time at Harding! As an administration, the school can become frustrating when their hands seem tied about certain stances (women in the church, gay rights, pro-choice/pro-life, diversity, etc.), but that is not to say the entire campus feels or acts the same way. Junior: I love attending College of the Ozarks. I will be a Junior this Fall. My major is Music Theater. The college has a work study program which helps students to be able to work for the tuition and graduate debt free. During the school year we work part time. During the summer we can work full time to pay for the upcoming school year housing and food. I work during the school year in the Theatre department. This works out very well for me since my major is Theatre. During the summer I have worked in different areas on campus depending on what is available. This summer I am working off campus as well. The small campus community feels like home and the study abroad/away opportunities are incredible. Alum: Don’t let the small town fool you. ONU is a great school. Knowledgeable professors, lots of extra curricular activities, and great athletic programs. The small school vibe is amazing, students are generally very nice and you will know so many people on campus before you know it. There is a great camraderie between the athletic teams and most of the teams are very successful and highly competitive in the Ohio Atheltic Conference. All of the colleges have great accredidations and the value of the degree is worth the price. As for the social aspect, there aren’t a ton of bars but it’s not hard to find a good house party. Alum: Couldn't recommend Hope enough for any high school student. I graduated this past May and am extremely grateful for my time at the college. The professors are the most caring, wonderful people (especially in the Chem department, but I may be biased) and I couldn't imagine a better support system throughout college. In general, the student body is compassionate, fun, and collaborative. The social scene is fun, but obviously different than a BIG 10 school or something of that nature--not in a bad way, it's just whatever you're looking for. Junior: Before I toured the university I was sold by the welcome staff. They helped me through the whole application process. When I was accepted, I immediately felt like I belonged with the 19:1 class ratio and nice campus atmosphere. I have two more years left and I am so excited for the fall semester.
