CUNY Baruch College Reviews
Rating 3.67 out of 5 1,462 reviews
Every school has its strengths and weaknesses, but I have never seen an institution with such a polarizing skill set. Baruch provides students with a great education, as they hire adept professors with intensive resumes. Like every place, some teachers may not be as good as others, but for the most part, you can get a quality education here--especially if your major is in the Zicklin School of Business. It is a known commuter school, but they do provide dorms for students who apply from out of state and international students. They place their students at FoundStudy, a former hotel turn student housing. FoundStudy looks beautiful from the outside, but each dorm is falling apart. In your overpriced room, it's not uncommon to find mold and wood rot accompanied by extremely thin walls. The inside of the campus looks just as run down as the dorms, but the tuition is so cheap I really don't seem to mind the dirty floors and run-down classrooms.
Since it is a commuter school, campus life is hardly possible for the majority of the students. Many students also have a day job along with their degree. The professors aren’t the best ones especially on the hard subjects. There is a lack of professors and classes available per semester. As a student, I pray to get some classes of my choice and schedule by the time of my enrollment commencement day. There is no cafeteria but there are lounges to sit and eat food.
Baruch is a good commuter college for college students want to have careers in the business field. They also cater to other careers, but business is what they are known for. It is very accessible when it comes to transportation, food, and resources outside of the school; however, more student life activities that are convenient within a certain timeframe would be better and having more wide range of professors in each course than ones who has been teaching their for a while and loss their passion in teaching. More lively and helpful professors can go a long way.
