Great academics, though a somewhat religious experience as its Jesuit curriculum requires 2 philosophy and 2 theology courses. Party scene is less of a plus-side for the school, but the classes, professors, community, and involvement opportunities are all strengths! While some Freshman live on Newston Campus, and others live on Upper Campus, each have positives and negatives and regardless make for a great first-year experience! Ascend Club is especially awesome too :)
Once I found my close friends, life at BC improved greatly. My freshman year was impacted by COVID, so the party scene and any sort of social interaction was limited. The dining hall food could definitely be better, but once I got a dorm with a kitchen that didn't bother me as much. Tailgating is fun, but nothing compared to the football games at bigger schools. The easy-access to downtown Boston is convenient, and I enjoy being in the suburbs.
Boston College is exactly what you make of it. There is no Greek life, so much of the social life revolves around clubs and student organizations. If you apply to these, you will easily find your people. The student life is very easy to find your place in, especially because, as a freshman, it is very welcoming. However, if you do not try to be involved, it will not just fall into your lap. I know plenty of people who were not involved in anything and their circle and fun-ness stayed small.
Diversity on campus was lacking. While there are student organizations that help students of color feel more welcome, these communities usually stick with each other. This leads to it being difficult to really connect with others who are different then oneself.
Overall, BC had a welcoming student body and amazing campus. As a young woman, I never felt unsafe walking around campus as night. The school introduced me to some of my lifelong friends, for which I am forever grateful.
