Syracuse, N.Y. -- The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Tuesday afternoon across much of Upstate New York.

Temperatures on Tuesday afternoon are expected to reach into the mid 90s, and the high humidity could make it feel more like 100 degrees, the weather service said.

“Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses, especially for the young and elderly,” according to the advisory.

The advisory is in effect from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Oneida, Yates, Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Steuben, Schuyler, Chemung, Tompkins, Madison, Cortland, Chenango, Otsego, Tioga, Broome, Delaware, and Sullivan counties.

Temperatures will drop back into the 80s on Wednesday as the remnants of Tropical Storm Beryl roll into Upstate New York. The storm could bring heavy rain, potentially enough for flooding of creeks across much of Upstate.
