Oh, what a northern lights night.
Despite some worry about clouds, one of the strongest geomagnetic storms hit Earth and created a colorful aurora borealis display across Upstate New York, dazzling residents and prompting thousands of photos and videos.
From Buffalo to the Adirondacks and Albany to the Hudson Valley, shutterbugs were out in droves, traveling to picturesque spots or capturing the phenomena right in their backyards.
The auroras could be visible tonight and potentially through Sunday, according to forecasts by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, so if you missed them, you could still have a chance to see the shimmering skies.
Comments on the NOAA Facebook page indicate the northern lights could be seen as far south as Tennessee.
