Finger Lakes man arrested for having 14 pounds of cannabis, troopers say

Amsterdam, N.Y. — A Finger Lakes man was arrested when police found 14 pounds of cannabis after the man who was driving on the Thruway was pulled over, troopers said.

Michael W. Gladis, 38, of Seneca Falls, was driving at about noon Wednesday when troopers saw him commit a traffic violation, said Trooper Stephanie O’Neil, a spokesperson for the state police.

Gladis pulled off the Thruway and stopped on Route 30 in Amsterdam, O’Neil said. During the traffic stop troopers found 14 pounds of raw cannabis, she said.

He also had more than three pounds of concentrated cannabis oil as well as numerous cartridges containing concentrated cannabis oil, and a large sum of money, she said.

The legal limit for cannabis is three ounces. For concentrate the legal limit is 24 grams.

He was charged with first-degree criminal possession of cannabis in the first degree, second-degree criminal possession of cannabis in the second degree, two counts of second-degree criminal sale of cannabis and a traffic ticket, she said.

He is being held in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility without bail, she said.
