Summer for the City Anthem to US Concert

July 6 @ 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Free

Enjoy the culmination of a monthslong collaborative effort with Brooklyn Public Library to create a contemporary anthem echoing our collective hopes, struggles, and histories.

Iconoclastic American pianist and NPR host Lara Downes brings together a group of celebrated artists from a wide range of musical backgrounds, including country singer Miko Marks, jazz vocalists Vuyo Sotashe and Theo Bleckmann, rising star violinist Amaryn Olmeda, the award-winning Ivalas String Quartet, Shandela Contreras, and Claudia Acuña. The concert will also feature selections from Lara Downes’s forthcoming album entitled This Land, a reflection on the kaleidoscopic diversity of stories and journeys that have converged and collided throughout American history, from an artist known for her musical explorations off the beaten path.

Experience the world premiere of the final three anthems from the Anthem to US project:
Let Them Fly – Lyrics by Jessy Tomsko; composed by Martha Redbone & Aaron Whitby
Big Country – Lyrics by D.L. Newton; composed by Damien Sneed
We Are US – Lyrics by Jaquetta Bustion; composed by Jaime Lozano

Be a part of history and see music in the making!
