Trump Attorney Shoots at Legal Documents in New Video

A member of former President Donald Trump's legal team is shown firing a grenade launcher at boxes of legal documents in a new campaign ad for Missouri attorney general.

Will Scharf, who has represented Trump in several matters including the recently successful presidential immunity case at the U.S. Supreme Court, is hoping to unseat Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey in the state's Republican primary election on August 6.

While Bailey has also repeatedly praised the former president and his MAGA movement, Scharf's new ad attempts to outdo the incumbent by literally blowing up Trump's legal woes, which both men claim without evidence have been orchestrated by President Joe Biden.

"Are you sick and tired of Joe Biden's attacks on President Trump, our Constitution, and the MAGA agenda? It's time for a Missouri Attorney General who will return fire," Scharf wrote on Tuesday while sharing the ad to X, formerly Twitter.

In the 30-second ad, Scharf says, "Joe Biden and his corrupt allies are wrecking our legal system" and "doing everything they can to stop President Trump and the MAGA agenda" as Trump-related legal documents and boxes are shown piling up on a grassy hill.

Scharf, wearing a black vest, is then shown loading the military-style grenade launcher and firing the weapon the boxes of documents while saying ,"It's time for a Missouri attorney general who will return fire."

The documents dramatically explode before Scharf is seen continuing to hold his weapon as a gruff-sounding voice actor says "Trump Attorney Will Scharf" with an image of the same words appearing on screen.

"As President Trump's attorney, and as a former federal prosecutor, I fought Joe Biden and locked up hardened criminals," Scharf says while addressing the camera directly. "Now, I'm ready to fight for Missouri."

The ad ends with the voice actor once again reminding voters that Scharf is "President Trump's attorney" as an image of Trump and Scharf together appears on screen.

Newsweek reached out for comment to the Bailey campaign via online contact form on Tuesday.

While Trump is not currently facing any legal issues in Missouri, Bailey sued New York state earlier this month over a Trump gag order stemming from the Manhattan hush money criminal trial, where the former president was found guilty on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in May.

Bailey claims that the gag order on Trump, which limits his ability to disparage court staff and their family members, amounts to "interference with the presidential election in other states" and "violation of the First Amendment rights of voters in other states."

Scarf's ad follows a trend of Republican political candidates, particularly those associated with the MAGA movement, releasing weapon-toting campaign ads in recent years.

A number of prominent Republican lawmakers and candidates have also come under fire for sharing Christmas-themed images of themselves holding assault rifles in the wake of deadly mass shootings.
