Mom Captures Sweetest Way Baby Comforts Himself While She's Out the Room

A mom has captured heartwarming footage of the moment her baby snuggled up to her empty robe in her absence.

Alice Fisher from County Wicklow in Ireland is a single mother to her 7-month-old son, Mylo. Fisher looks after Mylo full-time, so they are rarely apart. However, there is the occasional moment where she has to step away to deal with something around the house.

Though it might not always make things easy for moms and dads, that bond between parent and child is crucial. A 2023 study published in Frontiers in Psychology found the more time parents spend with children, the higher their child's well-being was likely to be.

Fortunately, in Fisher's case, her son has come up with an adorable stop-gap for those situations, as she discovered to her delight recently. In a video posted to TikTok last week under the username @alicefisher26, the busy mom captured the moment Mylo began cuddling up with the robe she left on the bed.

Fisher told Newsweek her son is "very attached" to her and they share "a very close bond."

"He likes to keep my robe close to him to smell my scent," she added. "I thought it was a cute video of him to share and didn't expect so many views and comments."

At the time of writing, the video has been watched over 2.9 million times on TikTok.

"You're his whole world to him," one TikTok user commented. "I can truthfully say being a mother is the greatest gift of them all. It's not easy but their snuggles and smiles make up for it."

Another user shared a similarly adorable story and wrote, "When my son was 3 months old he was inconsolable. I was sitting in the hospital with my mom. My husband gave my baby a shirt I wore that day. My baby played with it for 20 minutes. And then he fell asleep."

A third posted: "When I was little I used to go and snuggle my mum's dressing gown when I was upset or scared and she was at work. I'd forgotten about that."

Commenting on the video's popularity, Fisher agreed: "There are a lot of comments from people saying they did the same as a child and lots of people who also have to leave their kids to go to work and also because Mylo's is super cute."

Fisher said that while day-to-day love and affection is crucial, having things like robes can help prepare kids for when they get older.

"I think it's really important to cuddle and show affection to our babies as much as possible," she added. "But giving a comforter like my robe is a great way for babies to self soothe and be able to be a little bit more independent as you can see Mylo is playing in the video because he has the comfort of my robe."
