Mark Cuban Shares Four Takedowns of Donald Trump

Another one of Mark Cuban's critiques of Donald Trump has gone viral on social media, with the business mogul offering four takedowns of the former president's policies.

In a post to X, formerly Twitter, Tuesday evening, Cuban wrote out four hypothetical talking points that appear to be drafted as if he were speaking to a supporter of Trump. The 65-year-old billionaire and minority owner of the Dallas Mavericks has become a frequent critic of the former president in recent years, including taking aim at Trump and the Republican Party in the months leading up to the November election.

Cuban's post on Tuesday, which as of Wednesday afternoon had over 6.5 million views, was in response to a post by Gad Saad, a Canadian author and professor of marketing at Concordia University. Saad's post was structured to challenge a hypothetical progressive voter on why that individual "hates" Trump.

In response, Cuban wrote four takedowns regarding Trump's business practices, his actions following the 2020 election and his 2024 campaign's policies.

"Me: He ripped off thousands of hard working Americans with Trump University, he put vendors out of business and didn't pay his bills," read Cuban's post. "You: But all business people do that."

"Me: He didn't want to leave the [White House]. He called the [Georgia] Sec of State and asked for 11780 votes," the post continued. "He demanded that VP Pence not certify the election. You: But he did leave!"

"Me: He said this week any immigrant who graduates from a 2 or 4 yr school gets a green card. You: That's smart, but there is no way he will do it."

"Me: He said he would charge a 10% tariff on all imported goods. You: Yeah, but China will pay for it."

Cuban ended his takedowns with the question, "You don't see anything wrong with any of these things ?" The hypothetical responder answered, "You have TDS," or Trump derangement syndrome, a term that supporters of the former president use to describe individuals who are highly critical of Trump.

Newsweek reached out to Trump's campaign via email for comment Wednesday afternoon.

Early into Trump's 2016 presidential run, Cuban appeared to support the former president's career shift from real estate into politics, writing on his CyberDust appl in July 2015 that Trump was "probably the best thing to happen to politics in a long long time."

By the time Trump earned the 2016 GOP presidential nomination, however, Cuban became much more outspoken about his distain for the former president, including offering him $10 million for a four-hour interview in where Trump would answer questions about his policies.

Several Trump supporters responded to Cuban's post to X on Tuesday pointing out that his opinion on the former president has changed over the years. Some well-known conservative personalities also pushed back on Cuban's motives for his post, including Keith and Kevin Hodge, better known as the Hodgetwins.

"Bruh what dirt do they have on you? This is legit government propaganda," the Hodge brothers wrote on X.

"This is nowhere near the flex you think it is Mark," added conservative commentator and Chad Prather. "You're on the take aren't you?"

Cuban has said that he plans to vote for President Joe Biden in November even if the 81-year-old was on his deathbed, telling Bloomberg News in March, "I don't want a snake oil salesperson as president. I'm voting for Biden-Harris over Trump all day every day."

Over the weekend, one of Cuban's posts to X garnered attention for supposedly critiquing the Republican Party. In that post, Cuban quoted a farmer from Shelby County, Ohio, who was quoted in a recent article by The Guardian that discussed why a growing number of U.S. farmers are planning to vote for President Joe Biden in November.

"'In the Democratic Party, not everybody gets their way, but everybody gets a voice. In the Republican Party, there's just one voice.' Christopher Gibbs, Farmer, Shelby County Ohio," read Cuban's post, which as of Wednesday afternoon had over 2.9 million views.
