Jill Biden Draws Backlash After Joe Biden Debate Fiasco: 'Monster'

First lady Jill Biden drew backlash from conservatives on social media after President Joe Biden's presidential debate fiasco on Thursday evening, with one X, formerly Twitter, account calling her a "monster."

During CNN's debate in Atlanta last night, Biden answered the moderators' questions with what his administration has currently accomplished and hopes to accomplish in another four years if he's reelected in November. Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump deflected many answers and had little to say about the exact policies he would enact as president. However, the biggest takeaway from the debate was the dismal job Biden did at answering the questions coherently and his overall lackluster presence on stage. A Biden aide, meanwhile, told Newsweek late Thursday night that the president was battling a cold during the debate.

After the debate, Jill Biden walked on stage to greet her husband. A video surfaced online of her later standing next to him and telling a crowd, "Joe, you did such a great job. You answered every question, you knew all the facts. And let me ask the crowd. What did Trump do? Lie!"

While there were misleading statements from both sides, Trump did so far more than Biden. CNN counted over 30 false statements made by the former president, while the network said Biden made at least nine false or misleading statements during the debate.

Conservatives on X ripped into the first lady for the speech she gave after the debate.

End Wokeness, a conservative X account, wrote on Thursday night, "Jill Biden is a monster."

Conservative political commentator Benny Johnson posted: "Jill Biden just gave the most cringe intro for Joe Biden after the debate."

"Jill Biden is certifiably terrifying. All while Joe sits and waits for his juicebox," Riley Gaines, a conservative activist, wrote.

Newsweek reached out to the Biden campaign via email for comment.

Meanwhile, Peter Henlein, a self-described political junkie, wrote: "Probably not a good idea to have Jill Biden talk to Biden like he's a toddler on national television after the performance he just had...He is the president, not a kid who turned in his homework."

Others, meanwhile, pointed to a video of the first lady leading her husband off the debate stage.

Greg Price, a Trump supporter, shared a zoomed in video of the Bidens walking off the stage and wrote on Thursday evening: "This is insane."

Former ESPN host Sage Steele posted to X: "Shame on Jill Biden for allowing this to go on for so very long. Shameful actions as a wife. Shameful actions as a human being."

Meanwhile, a CNN poll following the debate found that 67 percent of debate watchers said Trump won the debate, compared to 33 percent that sided with Biden. The poll found that ahead of the debate, 55 percent of respondents believed Trump would better perform in the debate, compared to 45 percent that sided with Biden.

Biden and Trump are expected to face off in a second debate on September 10 as the two remain the presumptive nominees for their respective political parties.
