Hugh Jackman made a rare public appearance with his son Oscar on Sunday, March 17.

The 55-year-old actor and his now 23-year-old son took a casual stroll through Manhattan, keeping it low-key. While Jackman wore a protective face mask and a hat, Oscar dressed casually in pants and a black jacket alongside his 6'3" father.

The Prestige actor and his now-estranged wife Deborra-Lee Furness, 68, adopted Oscar in 2000. Oscar's last notable public appearance with his family dates back to 2009 during Jackman's hand and footprint ceremony at the Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

Reflecting on a humorous moment from his son's childhood, Jackman back in 2018 shared with ET a memory when Oscar used his father's Wolverine fame to impress a girl on the beach at age 13. "He came up to me and he started walking ahead of the girl, and he goes, 'Dad, Dad, Dad, she's coming over. I told her you're Wolverine, just go with it.' I was like, 'I am the wingman for my 13-year-old boy.'"

Furness revealed to People another charming detail about Oscar's early discovery of his Bosnian roots in which he would carry around a Croatian/Bosnian cookbook wherever he went. She recounted, "He was very proud to carry that around when he was seven years old."

Jackman and Furness, who also adopted their daughter Ava in July 2005, had always been open about their intention to adopt and Furness had suffered the heartbreak of miscarriages.

"To be clear, Deb and I always wanted to adopt. So that was always in our plan," Jackman told Today In a 2012 interview. Jackman said that all their heartache over being unable to conceive melted away once Oscar came into their lives.

The Australian star and Furness were married for 27 years before they announced their split in September 2023. In their divorce statement, they emphasized that their children would forever be their top priority, highlighting the end of their marriage as a new chapter for individual growth. "Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness."
