Hearts Melt After Dog Refuses to Leave Sitter's Car

The bond between a woman and the dog that she looks after has melted the hearts of viewers online.

The woman, 19, who goes by @yassyadams on TikTok, had shared a clip of the West Highland white terrier to the platform on July 8. The short video, which has been viewed more than 1.3 million times, captures the Westie's unwillingness to leave his dog sitter's car after a day spent together. The social-media clip has led to an outpouring of emotion, with plenty of viewers gushing over the dog's sweet show of loyalty.

Viewers were able to see the male Westie sitting happily in his sitter's car, resting on her lap in the passenger seat and popping his head outside the window for a spot of fresh air at intervals.

The pet was filmed lapping up his sitter's full attention, who appeared to stroke him and fuss over him throughout the journey in Michigan. All of this led to the Westie refusing to leave his sitter's lap after the time came to take him home. Viewers could hear the canine growling in protest as his sitter attempted to move him off her lap and out of the car. The Westie breed, which originates from Scotland, is hailed for its faithful and loyal disposition despite its cravings for independence.

An overlaid text on the video read: "POV: [Point of view] You take the dog you're sitting on a car ride and he doesn't want to get out."

The Internet's Reaction

More than 119,000 TikTok users have liked the woman's post, while 57 have left comments that draw attention to the dog's affectionate temperament and how common such quirks are among the Westie breed.

"Those Westie 'rrrrrr's' are the best," one user, @janessa_deleon, wrote.

Another, @nfaye14, added: "Love the Westie energy! My baby was the same way."

"We call that Westitude," a third user, @mrs.zimmar, shared.

Another, @lethalllex, posted: "My Westie is the same way."

"My friends watched my dog," another. @alymariebooknerd, commented. "He got to go to their lake house and was spoiled by the whole family for two weeks, I had to literally carry him to the car when picking him up."

The post had been captioned: "He wanted to ride for longer."

Newsweek reached out to @yassyadams for more information via TikTok and Instagram. The woman shared on her social-media account that she is currently a student at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.
