FBI Informant Report Sparks New Theory About Joe Biden

A Republican senator's claim that "over 40" FBI informants disclosed "criminal information" regarding President Joe Biden and his family has sparked a new conspiracy theory.

Senator Chuck Grassley said in a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Chris Wray earlier this week that he had "been made aware" of the FBI "at one point in time" maintaining over 40 "confidential human sources" who alleged criminality related to Biden, his brother James Biden and his son Hunter Biden.

Republicans launched an impeachment inquiry into the president in September but have so far failed to publicly produce evidence proving a crime was committed by Biden. Grassley's new claims are unverified and it is unclear how many of the purported informants, if any, had information directly implicating the president.

Regardless of the uncertainty, conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, founder of the right-wing student group Turning Point USA, claimed that Grassley had "confirmed" that the FBI had more than 40 sources with damning information on "the Biden Crime Family."

Kirk then proposed a new conspiracy theory. He claimed that, despite conducting extensive investigations on the Bidens, federal law enforcement had not brought charges against the president in order to maintain "control" over him through FBI "blackmail."

"Sen. Chuck Grassley has confirmed that since Joe Biden was Vice President, the FBI has maintained over 40 confidential human sources providing criminal information on the Biden Crime Family," Kirk wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "That's more assets and resources than the feds have working Mob bosses."

"So why put that much money and time and manpower into investigations only to never bring charges?" he added. "The answer is control and blackmail. The FBI has Joe Biden over a barrel. He's 100% controllable. He'll do what he's told."

Newsweek reached out for comment to the White House and the FBI via email and the Department of Justice (DOJ) via online press contact form on Friday.

Kirk went on to suggest that the FBI was fearful of former President Donald Trump winning the 2024 presidential election and working to "destroy" the bureau during a second term in office.

He claimed that Trump firing former FBI Director James Comey in May 2017 was only "the first shot across the bow," arguing that the FBI would be the worthy future recipient of "Trump's retribution" after "framing him."

"They knew Trump would eventually destroy them for framing him, smearing him with fake dossiers, and surveilling his campaign and administration," wrote Kirk. "Firing Comey was the first shot across the bow. They know he'll definitely do it if he's elected again."

"The rogue FBI deserves every ounce of Trump's retribution," he continued. "If they're not brought to heel, then we truly do live in a police state."

Grassley's letter to Garland and Wray demands an answer on whether or not the purported informants were "improperly shut down" by the FBI and DOJ to protect the president, despite many of the sources allegedly disclosing their information during the Trump administration.

In a statement released alongside the letter, Grassley suggests that a "political infection" in federal law enforcement may be fueling a conspiracy to shield Biden from justice.

"Based on the information provided to my office over a period of years by multiple credible whistleblowers, there appears to be an effort within the Justice Department and FBI to shut down investigative activity relating to the Biden family," said Grassley.

"Such decisions point to significant political bias infecting the decision-making of not only the Attorney General and FBI Director, but also line agents and prosecutors," he added.
