Steve Carell recounted his experience with Taylor Swift and shared the reasons behind his continued admiration for her during his appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.
On the Monday, June 10 episode, Carell delved into their initial meeting and the particular event that solidified his fandom over the years.
The actor reminisced about their initial encounter, recalling their first meeting on Total Request Live, the iconic music video countdown show that aired on MTV until 2008.
"Briefly, I met TS. Remember TRL way back? Early on in my career and in hers, we were both on TRL at the same time," Carell recounted to host Fallon.
He continued, "I thought, boy, she seems special, like even back then. She was very sweet and very nice, just had a really nice first impression."
Although their initial interaction was brief, he shared the moment that made him realize she was genuinely ki "And then years later, obviously following her career, she became a big superstar," The Office alum said.
The Morning Show star continued to share: "I remember seeing some video of her at a hospital, playing an acoustic guitar for a patient there. Some kid. It was no big crew, it was like a really low-key handheld thing that she sort of just did on the sly. And I thought, "That's so cool and not publicized and just leading with her heart. And I thought, 'Okay, yeah, I'm a fan.'"

After his heartfelt story about Swift, Fallon chimed in to say that Carell is a very nice guy himself. Carell then responded, "No, no, no. Not Taylor Swift level."
This isn't the only time Carell has publicly praised the popstar. In a 2014 interview with ABC News, he hilariously started singing the lyrics from the song "Shake it Off," and went on to say, "I love it. I actually love Taylor Swift. I think she's great."
Correction 6/12/2024, 7:25 a.m. ET: This article was updated to correct a misspelling of Carell's name.
