Donald Trump's Requirement for Vice President Revealed by Adviser

Former President Donald Trump's requirements for a vice president pick in 2024 were revealed by adviser Jason Miller this week.

On Monday, Miller, a senior adviser to Trump's campaign, appeared on Fox News' Fox & Friends and was asked when the former president could announce his choice for a running mate.

"By this time next Monday, we will know who President Trump has selected as his running mate for the 2024 election. President Trump has some great choices, I really like all the finalists and it could happen anytime this week," Miller said.

When asked about some names that have been floated around, such as Senators Marco Rubio and J.D. Vance, as well as North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, Miller said that Trump has discussed even more names and said "it's almost an embarrassment of riches that there's so many good people."

"What President Trump has said is whoever he does pick, needs to be able to step in and do the job on day one. Each of the different prospects has their own strengths and I think really can help chart the nation forward," Miller said.

There has been much talk about who Trump will pick as his running mate, with options believed to include former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson and Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton. Other options include Vance, Rubio, Burgum, New York Representative Elise Stefanik and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

Last month, Jake Traylor of NBC News reported on X, formerly Twitter, that Trump told reporters he has made a decision on his vice president but has not yet informed the pick about his selection.

Trump said that he had decided, "in my mind, yeah." He added to reporters that "nobody knows" his choice. NBC also reported that Trump said his running mate will "most likely" be at Thursday's debate.

Vance was interviewed by Fox & Friends co-host Lawrence Jones last month where he said there would be some "disappointment" if he is not picked as Trump's vice president.

"I'm human, right? And so, when you know this thing's a possibility, and it doesn't happen, there's certainly gonna be a little bit of disappointment," Vance said. "But, I think the bigger thing is, it's such a cool thing to get to do the job that I do and frankly, more importantly than that, I love being a dad."

During his appearance on Fox & Friends on Monday, Miller also questioned who Trump and his potential running mate "will be running against," amid criticism of President Joe Biden and called for him to step aside from a second term following a poor performance in the recent presidential debate.
