'The Bachelorette' Season 21: Everything We Know

Hopeless romantics rejoice! In a matter of days, Season 21 of The Bachelorette will debut, affording viewers a front-row seat as a host of suitors vie for the heart of the show's latest leading lady looking for love.

During the Season 28 finale of The Bachelor back in March, it was revealed that Jenn Tran would be leading her own love search after competing for Joey Graziadei's affections. Physician assistant student Tran, 26, has made history in the Bachelor Nation as the franchise's first Asian American lead.

"I feel so so grateful and so honored to be the first Asian bachelorette in this franchise," she said after being announced as the new Bachelorette, adding that she never imagined she could be a leading lady.

"And now to be here today saying in this position... I am going to lead my own love story, I am going to be the main character in my story—like, I just can't help but think of how many people I'm inspiring," added Tran, who was eliminated in week 7 of The Bachelor.

Speaking to host Jesse Palmer, Tran said that she was "overwhelmed," as she compared her impending love ride with her everyday life. "Honestly, I feel like just yesterday I was literally in the emergency room, in my scrubs, working, and now here I am in stilettos, in this little gown," she said.

Having gone through the process herself as a hopeful, Tran also shared some advice for the men vying to find their happily ever after with her.

"This experience is absolutely crazy and all I can hope is for them to really open up their heart to this because that's what I did and I got so much out of it," she said. "You know, it didn't end the way that I wanted to, but I grew and I learned so much from it... I really hope that they ready to have some fricking fun."

Newsweek has provided all the details you need to know ahead of the upcoming season.

Who Is the Bachelorette?

Tran was born in Hillsdale, New Jersey, to Vietnamese parents and was raised bilingual. She has one older brother called James.

She played basketball and lacrosse in high school before going on to attend the University of Pittsburgh. After two years at the Pennsylvania college, Tran transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, from which she graduated with a bachelor of science degree in molecular biology in 2020.

Currently based in Miami, Tran is pressing on with her physician assistant studies—even though her current status is making that somewhat challenging.

In a TikTok video shared in mid-June, she said: "OK, so I know everyone has been asking this question for a while now. People want to know if I am dropping out of PA school. The answer is yes... No!"

"You guys are crazy. No, I am NOT dropping out of PA school," she continued. "I am just taking a little break. I took a little break for filming The Bachelorette, obviously, but now that I'm back, I'm in a bit of a pickle right now because I'm doing a lot of press events. There is just so much going on in my life right now. I'm in L.A. like every other weekend."

After explaining that she would have been concluding her studies now had she not been filming, Tran added: "I wasn't thinking because this is actually the craziest time of my life, and I want to be able to fully focus on school and fully focus on what I'm doing here as well. So the plan for right now is I'm going to push back my emergency rotation until September, which is when the show stops airing and all this chaos is going to die down."

When Will 'The Bachelorette' Air?

For those impatient to see Tran embark on her love journey, fret not. The Season 21 premiere will air on July 8. Returning to ABC, the show will start at 8 p.m. EST.

The Bachelorette will also be made available for streaming on Hulu.

Viewers can expect to see the big personalities go the distance this season, as Tran revealed earlier this year the type of suitor who will likely catch her eye.

"I'm looking for someone who has a really big personality," she said. "I want someone who has that kind of banter. I'm all about having fun... and I want someone who's going to be able to take it as much as they can dish it. And if we just spend the whole night literally making fun of each other that will be the most ideal night ever."
