The 21-year-old Immokalee pedestrian who was killed on Saturday morning has been identified as vet assistant Monica Marie Soliz.

Her family has organized a GoFundMe to help with the unexpected funeral costs.

"She was a beautiful, smart ,motivated young woman who was still in college with dreams of becoming a Veterinarian," her mother wrote on GoFundMe. "She was already a Certified Vet Assistant who loved animals and had 2 cats she treated like little babies."

According to Soliz's Facebook, she had gone through the veterinary assisting certificate program at Lorenzo Walker Technical College and was currently studying at Hillsborough Community College.

Soliz was struck by two vehicles on State Road 82, south of Corkscrew Road, on July 6 at 4:42 a.m.

Authorities say Soliz was walking west on the westbound lane of State Road 82 when the first vehicle struck her. The second vehicle, which was traveling behind the first, hit her after the initial collision.

The driver of the first vehicle is a 63-year-old Immokalee woman and the driver of the second vehicle is a 27-year-old Immokalee man. Neither driver sustained any injuries.

Authorities say Soliz was pronounced deceased on scene.
