In the hyperviolent, over-the-top gory, political allegory that is Amazon Prime's hit show "The Boys," now in its fourth season, Gov. Ron DeSantis has a fan.

A "DeSantis" bumper sticker can be seen on the wall behind superhero influencer Firecracker (Valerie Curry), the newest member of the corrupt, sociopathic superheroes called the Seven, as she spouts conspiracy theories.

"The Boys", a show about how super-powered people would behave in the real world based on the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, often parallels and satirizes current news and political events, although with wildly bizarre and messily violent outcomes.

What is 'The Boys?'

In the universe of "The Boys," most super-powered people (called "Supes") are revered as heroes. But many of them have been corrupted by their celebrity status and godlike abilities. Murder, torture, sexual assault and more are treated as perks of the job.

The most powerful and influential belong to the supergroup "The Seven," headed by the Homelander (Antony Starr), a psychopathic Superman analog. The Seven works for the powerful Vought International, which monetizes them and seeks to insinuate itself into the highest levels of government.

Opposing them is The Boys, a vigilante group dedicated to bringing down the Seven before they become unstoppable. They are led by former British special forces operative Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), who despises Supes in general and Homelander specifically.

The Emmy-award-winning Amazon Prime series debuted in 2019 and immediately became one of their most successful original series. It has spawned three spinoffs, an online series called "Seven on 7," "Diabolical," an animated anthology series, and "Gen V'," a live-action series following college-age Supes.

Showrunner Eric Kripke announced on social media this week Season 5 of "The Boys" will be its last.

Who is 'Firecracker' in 'The Boys'?

Super-powerful and capable of generating sparks (similar to the X-Men comics character Jubilee), Firecracker is a product of the Deep South and apparently a parody of far-right conspiracy theory YouTubers.

Firecracker hosts a fringe podcast called Truth Bomb she uses to support the Seven and condemn former Seven member Starlight, now part of The Boys and Firecracker's previous beauty pageant competitor.

Pete Buttigieg also gets a 'The Boys' mention

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg also gets a shout-out of sorts from the show's U.S. Secretary of Defense and presidential candidate Robert A. Singer, played by Jim Beaver, after The Boys return from an unsuccessful mission to take out his running mate Victoria Neuman, a Supe and former assassin.

"G----- it!" he yells. "Everyone told me to pick Buttigieg instead."
