DAYTONA BEACH — A 22-year-old Port Orange man was identified as the person who police said jumped to his death last week off the roof of Ocean Walk Shoppes.
Javier A. Hernandez told his girlfriend that he was planning to jump off a building, according to a police report.
A woman saw him falling to the ground about 6:10 p.m. Friday from the top of the building. He landed on the sidewalk at 250 N. Atlantic Ave.
Two retired nurses rushed to administer CPR to Hernandez until rescue crews arrived. Police shut down Atlantic Avenue as they tended to the man.
Hernandez was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
