All epic sagas must come to an end, and Vikings: Valhalla embark on one last adventure in Season 3, which is streaming now on Netflix.
Co-creator and executive producer Jeb Stuart will bring the series to a natural creative conclusion in July, but the ship won’t be sailing off into the sunset quietly. “I am so grateful to have had three seasons to tell the stories of Leif, Harald, and Freydís. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to show the evolution of how three of the most famous Vikings became the icons we know today, and we have done just that,” Stuart said. “I hope when the audience gets to see the new season, they’ll be excited by all the new heights that we’ve taken these heroes.” Check out the axe-and-action-packed Season 3 trailer above.
When we last saw our warriors, there was more bloodshed than ever before. From a treacherous journey to Constantinople to a gory face-off, the Vikings’ will to survive is put to the test. But the danger is far from over. Keep scrolling to learn more about what you can expect from this final voyage.
The saga continues in these Season 3 first-look photos of Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter), Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), and Freydís Eiríksdóttir (Frida Gustavsson). Although it’s the final season, fans will also meet two new characters: Maniakes (Florian Munteanu), a fearless Byzantine general who answers only to the Emir, and Erik the Red (Goran Višnjić), Leif and Freydís’ father.
Feast your eyes on the fiery posters above, and imagine sailing along with these Viking heroes as they set off for new worlds. And if you’re just dying to know where the bathrooms were on those longboats, we’ve got you covered.
Check out those abs at the top of this story! “Where do you go when you’ve lost everything? You go back home.” Harald’s ominous proclamation in the trailer above hints at the challenges the adventurers will face in Season 3. We see Canute kneeling to Christian leaders and Freydís on the verge of being burnt at the stake. Yet new journeys may be on the horizon too as Leif meets a mapmaker and shares his dream to travel into the far west, while Freydís and her struggling villagers wonder if it’s time to find a new home. But will even one of the trio make it back to Norway alive?
Yes! Celebrate the Summer Solstice with the scene above.
The historical fiction series, which premiered in 2021, follows a new generation of legendary heroes a hundred years after the Vikings of the History Channel. As tension arises between the Vikings and the English in the early 11th century, these characters inspired by Norse mythology must fight for their own beliefs, territory, and legacy.
“When we started this project five years ago, I worked hard with this incredible cast and crew to craft a journey that we all hoped would be satisfying,” Stuart said. “Of course with real historical figures, there are always more aspects of their lives that could be explored, but it made sense storywise for our Leif, Freydís, and Harald’s voyages to end with our third season. And we really cannot wait for the fans to see the conclusion of this chapter of history.”
