Storm Team4 forecast: Enjoy sunshine and less humidity through the weekend

As a cold front settles down to our south this morning, an area of high pressure over Michigan will take control of our weather.

After a few isolated morning showers, the rest of your Friday will not only be dry but comfortable. Afternoon highs in the mid-80s are about 5° cooler than average. Better still, a noticeable drop in humidity will arrive Friday and last throughout most of the weekend.

Rain chances are at 0% this weekend. That's good for outdoor plans but terrible for the Shenandoah Valley where drought conditions have now entered the extreme category. The isolated storms we've had this week have left rain inside the Beltway while leaving farm country bone dry. Reagan National had 1.57 inches on Monday and another 1.28 inches on Thursday. Meanwhile, Dulles Airport recorded rain on four days this week totaling less than a half-inch. That leaves it as one of the driest summers on record for northwest Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley.

Sunny skies are on tap for Saturday and Sunday with highs staying in the 80s on Saturday and getting back to around 90° on Sunday. The dry air will allow for overnight lows to drop into the mid-60s away from the urban centers and the Bay.

More humid air will return on Monday and afternoon storm chances will be back in the forecast starting on Tuesday. Let's just hope that next week's rains can find their way to the places that really, REALLY need it.
