Teens, who escaped from Berks juvenile detention center, recaptured in Bucks Co., police say

Police said both teens who escaped from Abraxas Academy on Saturday, -- Tyler Lutz, 18 Dustin Lomas, 16 -- have been captured as of Wednesday evening

Law enforcement officials said Thursday that they have apprehends both teens that the Pennsylvania State Police had been searching for after the pair escaped a youth detention center in Berks County on Saturday.

In a statement released Thursday, police said Dustin Lomas, 16, who escaped the youth detention center with Tyler Lutz, 18, was captured by police in Falls Township when he was found as the occupant of a stolen vehicle.

According to state police officials, Tyler Lutz, 18,was taken into custody on Monday night after he was found "attempting to blend in with the carnival employees" at a carnival in Tullytown Borough.

Officials said Lutz was discovered at about 8:30 p.m. on Monday and was taken into custody without incident. Officials said he will be charged with escape now that he is 18.

On Saturday, July 6, at 4:45 p.m., Lomas and Lutz escaped from Abraxas Academy – a youth detention center in Berks County – by climbing over a fence, state police said.

Both teens fled in an unknown direction and their escape was not confirmed until a few hours later, according to investigators.

Lomas is described as a wearing a blue hoodie, white T-shirt and blue sweatpants at the time of his escape, state police said.

Lomas is from Levittown, Bucks County, while Lutz is from Reading, Berks County, investigators said. Police believe Lomas may be in the Levittown area.
