Matt Finkel

Matt Finkel is an award-winning sportscaster who can be seen anchoring sports during the 6 p.m.and 11 p.m. newscasts on NBC Connecticut. Matt joined NBC Connecticut in 2019 and hopes his passion for sports and enthusiasm for storytelling comes through every day.

Originally from New Jersey, Matt graduated from Syracuse University in 2011, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism and Finance from the Newhouse School of Public Communications and the Whitman School of Management. From there, he got his start in the business working as a broadcast associate at MLB Network, followed by his first on-air job at the West Ohio Sports Network in Lima, Ohio. After that, Matt spent three years covering sports at WDVM-TV in Hagerstown, Maryland.

In 2022, Matt was named the Connecticut Sportscaster of Year by the National Media Sports Association. He is a 7-time honoree by the Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists and his stories have earned him 3 New England Emmy nominations. Matt won a Silver Telly Award in 2022 for his work on NBC Connecticut's Kids Connection and he won two Sports Emmy® Awards during his time at MLB Network.

Matt loves enjoying all that Connecticut has to offer and spends his free time with family and friends, playing guitar, attending concerts and golfing.
