Job Details

The Division of Biostatistics in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN, is seeking a postdoctoral scholar. This position provides strong mentorship and an excellent opportunity to further research skills for a career in academia, government, or industry.

We are seeking a scholar with an interest in developing computational and statistical methods for high-dimensional data for biomedical applications. We are primarily interested in applications to genetics and genomics, and are open to other application areas subject to mutual interest. Experience with optimization techniques, Bayesian computation, statistical genetics, and Julia programming is welcome but not required.

The scholar will primarily work with Saunak Sen, PhD, and will have the opportunity to collaborate with other faculty inside and outside the Division of Biostatistics.

The position will be for one year, renewable based on mutual agreement and funding availability.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree in statistics, biostatistics, applied mathematics, bioinformatics, computer science, or related fields.

Candidates are expected to posses strong statistical intuition, excellent programming and data analysis skills, and a willingness to learn biomedical sciences.

The Postdoctoral Office works with the UT Postdoc Association and the Postdoc Advisory Committee. We also support the National Postdoc Association.
