Qualifications:

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Physical Science and Engineering as well as postdoctoral experience for junior level position. They will be expected to establish an independent research program. The senior position applicants are expected to be leading scientists in his/her research disciplinary.

Center for Transformative Science (CTS):

Academic Disciplines:

Applicants in the following areas are encouraged but not limited:

1. Theory and simulation of photon-matter interactions, particularly its applications in ultrafast laser/X-ray spectroscopy.
2. Novel methods for characterizing, accessing, and manipulating amorphous materials and biological materials.
3. Coherent diffraction imaging and its applications in free electron laser, synchrotron radiation, and electron microscopy; Super-resolution fluorescence microscopy and its applications.
4. New in-situ and operando characterization method development for synchrotron radiation and X-ray free electron laser and its applications in energy science and life science
5. Pixel array x-ray/electron detectors and big data analysis.

Qualifications:

1. With excellent academic and scientific research background, applicants should have a doctoral degree in science and engineering, generally with postdoctoral experience.
2. With innovative and independent ideas and research ability, applicants should be able to set up an independent research group, with good teamwork ability.
3. Experience in large science project or interdisciplinary research is preferred.

Institute of Mathematical Sciences(IMS)

Academic Disciplines:

1. Pure mathematics: algebraic geometry, differential geometry, partial differential equations, number theory, probability.
2. Theory of Computing: all areas of theoretical computer science, especially algorithms and computa- tional complexity.

Qualifications:

Assistant professors are expected to be young mathematicians who have a demonstrated potential to be leading researchers internationally. These “tenure-track” positions have a six-year duration. Associate professors are established experts in their field. These tenured positions are permanent.

Postdoctoral fellow positions are also available for young scientists.

Physician-Scientist Positions in Research Hospital, ShanghaiTech University

Shanghai Clinical Research and Trial Center, the Research Hospital of ShanghaiTech University, is a newly established academic health center located in the heart of Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park, Pudong, Shanghai. Aiming to be a world-class research hospital, it was founded in 2021 with the tripartite mission of providing evidence-based practice and patient-centered care, executing value-based clinical and translational research, and educating the next generation of caregivers and researchers.

Supported by a broad and deep array of resources from Shanghai Municipal Government, Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, and ShanghaiTech University, Shanghai Clinical Research and Trial Center is committed to building an integrated platform for seamless connection between clinical needs and basic research. It has established six disease diagnosis and treatment centers focusing on clinical/health problem-oriented research in the major fields of 1) Tumor, 2) Neurological diseases, 3) Pan-vascular diseases, 4) Respiratory system diseases, 5) Rheumatic, immune and musculoskeletal diseases, and 6) Sensory system diseases. The 136,000 sq.m. hospital will have 500 beds, of which 300 beds will be dedicated specifically to research, with a future plan to increase to 1,000 beds as the hospital develops.

1. Physician-Scientists: Physician-Scientists work as both clinicians and researchers to help patients by conducting clinical activities and developing potential new therapies, cures, and preventative medicine options;
2. Directors of clinical departments: Senior Physicians or Physician-Scientists who lead the clinical departments and provide management and administration of department operations and services;
3. Directors of the disease diagnosis and treatment centers: Senior Physician-Scientists who implement the vision and lead the strategic direction for the center in multi-disciplinary clinical practice, research and education.

Qualifications:

A successful candidate will be an MD or MD/PhD who is committed to pioneering major advances in medical practice through clinical and/or translational research. Candidates should ideally have a strong clinical background as well as an exceptional track record of basic or translational research demonstrated by publications in leading peer-reviewed journals or successful technology transfer. International clinical/academic training or work experience is highly desired.

Directors of clinical departments should be Physicians or Physician-Scientists equivalent to associate professor rank or above, and Directors of disease diagnosis and treatment centers should be Physician-Scientists equivalent to full professor, with priority given to candidates with experience in responsible leadership roles.

Physician-Scientists will be eligible to hold tenured/tenure-track faculty appointments in the Medical School of ShanghaiTech University. The academic rank and remuneration package will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
