Each year the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh invites every dental school in the UK and Ireland to choose a final year dental student to represent them at the Dental Clinical Skills Competition Grand Final.

Professor Grant McIntyre, Dean of the Dental Faculty, said: ‘It was such a pleasure to welcome 16 dental schools to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for the Dental Clinical Skills Competition Grand Final this year. As we celebrated our 10th year of running this event, it's been incredible to see the growing interest from the Dental Schools across the UK and Ireland. Having our Dental Faculty and Dental Council with us at the Grand Final was fantastic, and being able to recognise and reward the talents of the next generation of dental surgeons was very rewarding.'

On winning, Vicki Rees said: ‘It was an incredible day representing the University of Liverpool. It's been an absolute blast - from start to finish, the day was filled with so much fun! Everyone, from fellow competitors to Faculty and organisers, was incredibly friendly and supportive. It was an honour to represent the University and to have the opportunity to test my skills and knowledge in a new and exciting environment. Throughout my time at the University of Liverpool, I have been fortunate to learn from a team of exceptional academics and clinical staff who are dedicated to student success. Their guidance and support have been invaluable, and I owe a great deal of my success to them. I can't recommend this competition enough to my fellow students. It's not just about winning; it's about the experience and what we've learned together today.'
