The Metro Council's LGBTQ Caucus and others on Saturday led the installation of Nashville's first rainbow crosswalk to close out Pride Month. The crosswalk can now be seen at the intersection of Woodland and 14th streets in East Nashville — the longtime home of The Lipstick Lounge, Nashville's only lesbian bar.

In addition to members of the LGBTQ Caucus, state and local leaders including state Rep. Aftyn Behn and state Sen. Heidi Campbell were present at the event, which was presented in partnership with the Nashville Department of Transportation and Nashville Pride.

“This has been on many people’s minds for a long time," says LGBTQ Caucus Chair and District 7 Councilmember Emily Benedict in a recent release. "We’ve been working on it as a Caucus over the past few months and are thrilled to bring it to fruition. It is historic for our city in one of our most historic locations, outside one of the most iconic lesbian-owned establishments in the country.”
