Thistle Farms Sidewalk Sale

Since 2001, Thistle Farms has provided a vital — and sadly much-needed — service to the Middle Tennessee community: providing women survivors of human trafficking with free housing, health care, counseling and job-readiness training. In addition to operating a cafe and shop at 5122 Charlotte Ave. to earn money to support its efforts, the organization also conducts special events throughout the year to raise funds and awareness of its programs.

This weekend, on June 1 and 2, Thistle Farms will hold a Community Sidewalk Sale at The Shop at Thistle Farms, where shoppers will enjoy discounts on select overstock and slightly damaged items as well as the opportunity to purchase plant seedlings and starters grown by participants in their residential program. These plants will include a beautiful assortment of herbs, vegetables and ornamental flowers, available exclusively for this event, and they hope that the response will allow them to convert the new gardening project into another longer-term program for the residents and encourage them to realize the therapeutic benefits of working with seeds and soil.

Among the items available at a 25 percent discount will be apparel, candles, body products and additional Shared Trade products like cutting boards, placemats and table runners, and toiletry bags. In addition to “shopportunities,” attendees will be able to learn more about the good works of Thistle Farms and opportunities to assist in their efforts. The sale will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
