Local chef and veteran restaurateur Sean Brock has closed his Bar Continental at Grand Hyatt Nashville after an eight-month run.

According to a social media post, Brock is hoping to have the concept “live on in a different way in the future.”

Bar Continental, billed as a vinyl listening room and bar, replaced upscale restaurant (and Brock concept) The Continental in October. Having focused on European cuisine and classic American fare, The Continental initially opened in 2021.

Bar Continental’s 5,000-album vinyl library was largely derived from Brock's personal collection, with the restaurant's high-end hi-fidelity stereo equipment a highlight of the space.

“While I’m disappointed to be ending [Bar Continental’s] run, I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to share this with Nashville,” says Brock, a James Beard Award-winning chef and cookbook author perhaps best known for his former work with Husk.

“Thank you … all who shared in our obsession for music played over an incredible sound system," he adds.

With an address of 1000 Broadway, the Grand Hyatt is part of the 17-acre mixed-use Nashville Yards.

Other Brock restaurants in Nashville include Audrey, June and Joyland.
