A James Beard Award semifinalist chef and Food Network personality is bringing a restaurant to East Nashville.

Chef Mason Hereford told the Nashville Business Journal that he may choose to open a second location for his New Orleans restaurant, Turkey and the Wolf, or a different concept. The restaurant is known for its bologna sandwich and collard green melt, which Hereford confirmed to Business Journal would be on the menu.

The roughly 700-square-foot building with an address of 800 Meridian St. would focus on outdoor seating.

Hereford has not announced a slated opening time for the Nashville location, which would be his first restaurant outside of New Orleans. It will be led by Hereford and his wife, Lauren Agudo. Turkey and the Wolf chef Will Mondros will relocate to Nashville to serve as executive chef for the new location. Turkey and the Wolf hosted a pop-up in Nashville at Germantown bar Barrel Proof in March

The Meridian Street location in 2019 housed beta testing for BarkPark, a membership-based dog park. Local real estate investor Elliott Kyle is part of the ownership group for the property and facilitated the deal, for which details are unclear.

Turkey and the Wolf was named America's best new restaurant in 2017 and Hereford was a semifinalist for Best Chef South in the 2019 James Beard Awards.
