DETROIT -- Rookie Keider Montero pitched 6 1/3 shutout innings to lead the Detroit Tigers to a series-opening 1-0 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Monday night at Comerica Park.

The Tigers (43-48) have won four in a row and have three more against the first-place Guardians (56-33).
