Justyn-Henry Malloy is back in the lineup after a couple of days off.
Malloy will be the designated hitter when the Detroit Tigers (43-48) and Cleveland Guardians (56-33) meet again at 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday at Comerica Park.
Catcher Jake Rogers; infielder Andy Ibanez; infielder/outfielder Mark Canha; and outfielder Akil Baddoo are available off the bench. The full lineup is below.
Tigers right-hander Kenta Maeda (2-5, 6.71 ERA) will face Cleveland right-hander Ben Lively (8-4, 3.14).
Maeda has the highest ERA of any American League pitcher who’s thrown at least 50 innings. He’s coming off one of his worst outings of the year on July 4 at Minnesota. Maeda was charged with nine runs in 3 2/3 innings and was sent to the showers by a two-run homer by Ryan Jeffers.
Lively is a 32-year-old journeyman who’s pitched for four big-league teams, in addition to a three-year stint in Korea. The Guardians picked him up on a minor-league deal and have been rewarded with a surprisingly strong performance.
Pressed into the rotation by injuries, Lively has made 14 starts and allowed more than three runs only once.
