DETROIT -- It may have been a minor-league trade, but Trey Wingenter is headed straight to the big leagues.
Wingenter, a 30-year-old right-handed reliever, was assigned to the Boston Red Sox major-league club on Tuesday, three days after he was acquired in a trade with the Detroit Tigers.
