LANSING, MI – Michigan’s Child Protective Services has made progress but still needs to do more to protect children from abuse and neglect, according to a report released Tuesday by the Office of the Auditor General.

The audit found CPS investigators in 5% of reviewed cases didn’t conduct face-to-face interviews with children who allegedly suffered abuse or neglect within the time frame required by the department.
