Woman, 79, accused of accosting child after inappropriate texts, Snapchats

KALKASKA COUNTY, MI – A 79-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly sent inappropriate messages to a minor.

Michigan State Police in Houghton Lake began investigating Sue Ann Asch of Kalkaska in September 2023 after receiving a report that she was contacting the minor via text and the social media app, Snapchat.

The victim, who knew Asch, was interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center in Traverse City. Search warrants were obtained for Asch’s residence and several electronic devices were seized, police said.

A a felony warrant was authorized on Jan. 8. Asch turned herself in and was lodged in the Kalkaska County Jail.

She was arraigned in the 87-B District Court in Kalkaska County on Monday for accosting children for immoral purposes. Bond was set at $5,000.

Her next scheduled court appearance is at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 12.
