Bailey Falter...Wife's name is Kylee...Is a 2015 graduate of Chino Hills (Calif.) High School.... In his free time, enjoys working on cars, boating and watching UFC...Had committed to the University of California Santa Barbara prior to signing with the Phillies.... Went to high school with NBA players Lonzo Ball and LeMelo Ball...Through his father, Darwin, grew up idolizing fellow left-handed pitcher Sandy Koufax...Bailey would do reports on Koufax at school and had a framed picture of the southpaw hanging above his childhood bed...His delivery on the mound mimics that of Koufax.

2023

Went a combined 2-9 with a 5.36 ERA (80.2ip/55r/48er) in 18 games (14 starts) between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh…Was a member of Philadelphia’s Opening Day roster…Made his first start on 4/2 at Texas and suffered the loss (5.1ip/2er)…Was optioned to Lehigh Valley (Phillies’ Triple-A) on 6/13…Was assigned to Low-A Clearwater on 6/8 and pitched 3.0 scoreless innings at Fort Myers…Returned to Lehigh Valley on 6/13…Was acquired by Pittsburgh on 8/1 in exchange for Rodolfo Castro and assigned to Indianapolis…Was recalled on 8/5 and started that night in Milwaukee; gave up one run in 4.0 innings in a no-decision…Tossed 6.0 innings of relief and allowed just one run while striking out eight and won his first game on 8/21 vs. St. Louis…Gave up one run in 6.0 innings and won his second game in a starting role on 9/12 vs. Washington…Was placed on the 15-day injured list on 9/24 with a left neck strain and missed the remainder of the season.

2022

Began season at alternate training site in Lehigh Valley and began minor league season with Lehigh Valley (AAA)...Was recalled by the Phillies for a brief stint, 4/20-25, during which he made his ML debut on 4/25 at COL...Was recalled again on 6/14 from Lehigh Valley...On 6/14 at LAD, allowed one base runner in 3.0 scoreless IP, becoming the first Phillie since 1992 (Keith Shepherd) to do so within his first two career games, and only the seventh Phillie to do so since at least 1901...Had at least one strikeout in each of his first 17 career appearances, tied for longest such streak to begin a career by a Phillies reliever (other: Mark Leiter)...Was on the COVID-related IL, 7/11-15 and 7/20-8/13, with the latter stint including a rehab assignment to Lehigh Valley, 8/12-13...Struck out 34 of the 139 batters he faced (24.4%) and walked only six (4.3%)...Half of his appearances (11 of 22) were more than 1.0 inning and seven were at least 2.0 innings.
