July 24: LHP recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett; RHP optioned to Gwinnett; OF transferred to 60-day IL
Logue, who signed as a Minor League free agent Dec. 8, has yet to appear for the Braves but has a 3-8 record and 6.88 ERA in 17 career games (10 starts) between Oakland (2022) and Detroit ('23). Winans rejoined the Stripers after he allowed seven earned runs across 2 2/3 innings in Game 1 of Wednesday's scheduled doubleheader against the Reds.

To make room for Logue on the 40-man roster, the Braves shuffled Harris to the 60-day injured list. Harris strained his left hamstring on June 14, and the optimistic end of his return date was late July, but manager Brian Snitker said earlier this month that Harris still had a long road ahead.

July 24: RHP recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett; LHP optioned to Gwinnett
Winans was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett to start the first game of Atlanta’s doubleheader on Wednesday. Dodd was optioned to Triple-A to clear room on the roster.

July 23: 2B day to day with right finger injury
Merrifield, who was signed by the Braves on Monday, took a ball off his right middle finger -- his throwing hand -- while taking infield prior to his first game with the club. Merrifield was evaluated and X-rays were negative. He is considered day to day, but needed four stitches.

“[The ball] shredded the skin underneath the nail,” Merrifield said on Tuesday. “I got four stitches going through the nail into the finger and they glued my nail back down.”

July 23: 3B placed on paternity list; INF joins Braves
Riley left his position at third base during the ninth inning of Monday’s game against the Reds after he received news that his wife, Anna, went into labor. In a corresponding move, Williams was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Players get a maximum of three games on the paternity list and manager Brian Snitker said Riley will join the team in New York for its four-game weekend series against the Mets, starting on Thursday.

Anna Riley gave birth to the couple's second son, Beau Williams Riley, early Tuesday morning.

10-DAY/15-DAY INJURED LIST

RHP (right elbow inflammation; No. 2 on Braves top prospects list)
Expected return: TBD
Waldrep began a rehab assignment with the Braves' Rookie-level affiliate in Florida on July 23, yielding one run on two hits and two walks to go with two strikeouts in two innings in the team's 2-1 loss to the Pirates.

The right-hander was told he was being sent down after a June 16 start against the Rays, but he was placed on the injured list after telling the team's trainers that he was dealing with right elbow discomfort. The 22-year-old doesn't have any structural damage. (Last updated: July 23)

RHP (right shoulder inflammation)
Expected return: TBD
Herget, who was placed on the 15-day injured list on June 8 (retroactive to June 6) with right shoulder inflammation, began a rehab assignment with the club's Rookie-level affiliate in Florida on July 23. Herget logged one scoreless and hitless inning with one strikeout in the team's 2-1 loss to the Pirates.

The Braves acquired Herget from the Angels in exchange for cash considerations on May 2. He is 0-1 with a 3.68 ERA in five appearances (7 1/3 innings) this season. (Last updated: July 23)

2B (fractured left wrist)
Expected return: September
Albies was placed on the 10-day injured list on July 21 after sustaining the injury in the top of the ninth inning against the Cardinals. The team announced that he is expected to miss approximately eight weeks. Albies was injured trying to tag out Michael Siani stealing second when the St. Louis center fielder collided with his glove hand. (Last updated: July 22)

LHP (left forearm neuritis)
Expected return: TBD
Fried was placed on the Braves’ 15-day injured list on July 21, backdated to July 18, after feeling discomfort in his left forearm during warm-ups prior to pitching an inning in the All-Star Game. Fried didn’t think the discomfort was enough to stop him from pitching in the All-Star Game, but it was lingering when he returned to Truist Park on July 19.

Fried underwent an MRI exam, which showed nerve irritation but no soft-tissue damage. (Last updated: July 21)

60-DAY INJURED LIST

CF (left hamstring strain)
Expected return: TBD
Harris was transferred to the 60-day IL on July 24 to clear space on the roster. He began light running exercises on July 3, but manager Brian Snitker said the center fielder was still a long way from being ready to be activated despite being cleared to begin hitting and throwing the previous week. Harris strained his left hamstring during a June 14 game against the Rays.

An MRI exam showed he suffered a Grade 2 strain. The Braves haven't put a timetable on his return. (Last updated: July 24)

LHP (left elbow UCL)
Expected return: 2025
Kerr complained about the elbow after arriving to Triple-A Gwinnett, and manager Brian Snitker said he expects the 29-year-old will have to undergo Tommy John surgery. Kerr was optioned to Gwinnett on June 15, but he didn’t throw a pitch there. He was instead placed on the 15-day IL retroactive to June 16, and the team voided his option to Gwinnett.

Kerr appeared in 10 games, including two starts, for the Braves this season. He was 1-2 with a 5.64 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 22 1/3 innings. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on July 5. (Last updated: July 5)

LHP (left elbow soreness)
Expected return:
TBD
Matzek has been crow hopping while throwing from 90 feet. He has been encouraged by how his arm has felt, but it's too early to project when he might be available to pitch again. He posted a 9.90 ERA and produced some concerning hard-hit metrics over 11 appearances this season. He rested his arm for six weeks before recently being cleared to begin throwing again. (Last updated: June 28)

RHP (right elbow stress reaction)
Expected return:
TBD
Ynoa has struggled to return since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2022. The right-hander made three appearances for Triple-A Gwinnett this year, but he hasn't pitched since April 14. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on June 16 to create a 40-man roster spot for Grant Holmes. (Last updated: June 16)

RHP (right ulnar collateral ligament)
Expected return: 2025
After visiting Dr. Keith Meister on April 8, Strider underwent internal brace surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow on April 12 and will miss the rest of the 2024 season. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on June 15. (Last updated: June 15)

OF (ACL tear in left knee)

Acuña underwent season-ending surgery on June 4 after suffering an ACL tear in his left knee on May 26 in Pittsburgh. The operation was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles. Acuña will remain in Southern California for around 45 days post-op to begin his rehab before returning to the team.

“My goal is to come back as a better player and a better person,” Acuña said on May 30. “Who knows, maybe I can win another MVP.” (Last updated: June 6)
