The Good Wife fans will be happy to learn that there's another exciting cast addition to the digital-only spin-off.

Sarah Steele, who played Marissa Gold in 22 episodes of the show, is the latest character to sign up along with main castmembers Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo.

The creators of the spin-off, Robert and Michelle King, told Deadline that they were "absolutely thrilled" to have the favourite character on board.

As well as the addition to the cast new details have also emerged about when the show will air.

The 10-episode run - which is being exclusively run on VOD service CBS All Access - will begin airing in February 2017.

The network confirmed earlier this year that Baranski, who played Diane Lockhart, and Cush Jumbo, who played Lucca Quinn, are to head the cast.

The show wrapped back in May in the US after seven series and this new spin-off will pick up exactly a year later.

According to Deadline Diane's life is in turmoil after a huge scam took it's toll on her savings and she's been forced out of her firm Lockhart & Lee.

She then joins Lucca at another Chicago firm after being ousted.

Steele's character Marissa Gold will return as Diane's secretary while developing her skills as an investigator and fans will see how she's evolved since the series ended.

According to the online site the actress's stint on the show came under difficult negotiations as the producers worked around her current run on Broadway in Tony Award-winning The Humans.

Deadline reported that production of the spin-off was relocated and extended before they were able to coordinate schedules with Steele's busy career.

There is no word as of yet when the spin-off will be available to UK viewers.
