Fans of the heartwarming period drama All Creatures Great and Small are in for a treat as Channel 5 confirms the return of Tristan Farnon, portrayed by Callum Woodhouse, for the show's forthcoming two series. The character, known for his playful antics, had previously departed during the Christmas special to serve with the Royal Army Veterinary Corps.

However, one eagled-eye fan has now shared some behind-the-scenes snaps of Tristan reuniting with James Herriot (Nicholas Ralph). The dedicated fan posted these candids on an 'All Creatures Great and Small' Facebook enthusiast page with the enticing description: "Anyone for cricket? We're in for some fun scenes in series 5 folks! " These snapshots showcase both stars donning a cheerful smile while engaged in a cricket match.

Callum's character is seen adorned in a well-coordinated outfit: a deep red jumper worn over a shirt, complemented with a tie of matching shade. Similarly, James appeared dapper in an ensemble that echoed Callum's - a teal jumper layered above a shirt and a matching tie.

"Well, what a handsome lot. Wonder if we will see Carmody with a cricket bat...might bring some good laughs," one fan said in the comments section.

Another went on: "Yay! Cricket! Mrs Hall will have a field day."

A third added: "This makes me so happy, James and Tristan having a moment in the yard when they've both been in the war and are now (hopefully) both back home for good. Thank you so much for sharing."

Tristan Farnon will be back for series five of All Creatures Great and Small

Samuel West as Siegfried Farnon, Anna Madeley as Skeldale House's steadfast matriarch Mrs Hall, and Rachel Shenton as Helen Herriot will all be reprising their roles. James Anthony-Rose has also made a comeback as Richard Carmody.

Patricia Hodge will once again grace the screen as the elegant Mrs Pumphrey, accompanied by her cherished and overindulged Pekingese, Tricki.

The upcoming series promises to delve further into the charming tales of James Herriot, as viewers are invited back to the idyllic village of Darrowby to catch up with the unique Skeldale family and the vibrant mix of farmers, animals, and local residents inhabiting the 1940s Yorkshire Dales, reports the Express.

It was an emotional goodbye in the Christmas special

Channel 5 and Paramount+'s Commissioning Editor for Drama, Paul Testar, expressed his delight at the show's continuation: "We're so pleased that All Creatures Great and Small will be returning to Channel 5 for two more series."

He added, "The show has captured the hearts of our audiences and we are committed to bringing even more of James Herriot's unforgettable stories to our viewers. We can't wait to share this next chapter."

Executive Producer and CEO of Playground, Sir Colin Callender CBE, expressed, "Kindness and decency are increasingly rare qualities these days, so it is a blessing to be able to return to the sanctuary of Skeldale House and James Herriot's beloved characters who represent all that is the best in us."

"In All Creatures, you'll find no villains - just everyday folk trying to navigate through the day with dignity, with the support of community, family, and friends. It's a lesson for modern times."

All Creatures Great and Small will return to Channel 5 at Christmas.
