Coronation Street's Lauren Bolton actress Cait Fitton has broken her silence on a major twist that saw her 'murdered' character return from the dead and reveal a secret pregnancy.

After months of speculation over Lauren's true fate, we finally found out during Monday's dramatic episode what really happened to her. With that, viewers found out Lauren had survived her horror showdown with Joel back in February, and was very much alive after his brutal attack.

A second twist came on Tuesday though, with Lauren confirming she was pregnant. Lauren was grabbed by Joel after she snuck into the hospital to visit Roy Cropper, who was left fighting for his life after collapsing.

As she went to flee the hospital Joel spotted her and dragged her into a family room, locking the door. The pair came face-to-face for the first time since his horrifying attack on her months ago, and it made for tense scenes.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror about the big return, actress Cait spilled on the moment Lauren and Joel came face-to-face. She detailed Lauren's fears for her unborn baby, as she shared her joy at finally being able to tell everyone she was back on the show, shouting: "I'm alive!"

She told us: "It's terrifying, it's very different to the last time because last time she only had to think about herself. [Her] focus is [the] baby, [her] baby comes before anybody and anything. So her main fear is if he goes for me again, I'm gonna have to tell him I'm pregnant.

"He's gonna see I'm pregnant, and what's he gonna do now, is he gonna attack me again? Is he gonna finish me off? What is gonna happen to the baby? It's gonna be very juicy going forward that's all I can say."

Cait explained to us that had Joel not seen her at the hospital, Lauren would have snuck out and remained out of sight. But Joel spotting her not only thwarted her plan to stay hidden, but it also led to her revealing her pregnancy.

She told us: "I think if she could have gotten away with it she would have. It's when he grabbed her again, that fear of 'oh no, I've got to protect my baby. I've got to hold it and make sure I don't fall over'. If he hadn't have gone for her he wouldn't have had a clue cos of that big coat!"
